NORTH ATLANTA HOME

Another “serious” collector of serious things, and lots of them, this client has a wonderful eye for anything unique. She leans toward drama and romance with a particular weakness for fabulous chandeliers and French curves. At the same time, on any given day of “hunting”, Victoriana, whimsy, and quirkiness are just as likely to be part of her cache as bronze dore and ormolu.

Views of the living room show a great pair of late 19th century “Rococoesque”, pine cabinets with over mirrors that flank the fireplace. In the niches that house them, we mirrored the walls as a foil for the over-mirrors.

In the background over the George,III server is a beautiful, early 19th century portrait of a small girl. Although she’s American, she dresses in a more continental style. The height of her fashion to me, mostly for the way in which they’re painted, are the small, black patent leather slippers with mother of pearl buttons.

Because of the client’s love for things continental and the homes she remembers from her childhood in South America, we surfaced floors in the majority of the main living areas with white and verde marble.
